Our Certification

High standards

Do you wish to be assured of roses that have been grown in good labour and environmentally conscious conditions? Then you've come to the right place. We adhere to the high standards that arise from the criteria of the certificates we have achieved, such as Fairtrade, MPS-A, MPS-SQ, GAP, GRASP, EHPEA-Gold and ETI. We are FSI Compliant.

Independent audits are regularly conducted by these certification bodies to monitor progress and ensure certification requirements.

But our ambition does not stop here. It is self-evident to us that we are vigilant every day to ensure our actions are sustainable. We take our responsibility for a future-proof society very seriously.

Fairtrade

At Ziway Roses

Fairtrade

With the Fairtrade quality mark we show how we meet the Fairtrade standards in the areas of fair labour rights, safe working conditions and environmental protection. In this way, we contribute to the improvement of the living and working situation of employees at the nursery, and we protect the environment through strict procedures and guidelines before, during and after the production process.

MPS-A

In the MPS registration system we accurately track our consumption of crop protection products and fertilizers. We also register our consumption of energy and water and the amount of waste we generate. We also indicate in this system where, when and how much initial material was purchased.

MPS-SQ

Good working conditions are self-evident to us. In addition to Fairtrade, this certificate shows that we also meet the (inter)national requirements of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in the fields of safety and health.

MPS-GAP

The Water Hyacinth is a rapidly growing plant that causes a nuisance on the banks of Lake Ziway. We are working with our partner “Fair & Sustainable Consulting Ethiopia”, to clean up 4 hectares of the lake. After collecting the plants, we dry the plants and then process them into briquettes.

GRASP

With this certification, we demonstrate how we are committed to the health, safety and well-being of our employees. We use GRASP for the risk assessment of our social practices. With this tool we assess, improve and report on four main themes: the voice of our employees, information on human and labour rights, the indicators for human and labour rights, and the protection of children and young workers.

EPHEA-Gold

The Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association Code of Practice, is the result of an industry initiative to introduce a voluntary system of continuous professional and technical development, monitoring and self-regulation in the sector. It is designed to address the concerns of the market and civil society on social and environmental performance standards in the sector, and also to guide the sustainable development of the sector. With this certification we demonstrate that we are actively engaged in further implementing corporate social responsibility (CSR), product quality management and capacity building for the sector

ETI

As a member of ETI, we agree to act in accordance with the ETI Basic Code of Labour Practices, which is based on International Labour Organization (ILO) standards. This way we guarantee our ethical conduct before, during and after the production process.

FSI Compliant

Through our participation in the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI), we are working on progress in the field of transparency, responsible production and trade, a positive impact and improvement of the floriculture chain. Based on our certifications in the field of good agricultural practices, social and environmental, we meet the FSI Basket requirement.
